Here in Maryland, we are rapidly approaching the fun part of the year – that is the time of the year when the humidity and temperature race each other to the top of the scale. That is one of the many reasons I am looking forward to Albuquerque (at least it’s a dry heat).

While our sights are set on Albuquerque in August and Austin next year, we have future planning to do, and we need your help in maximizing our attendance at future annual meetings. In April, we published a short survey in Google Forms to gather your thoughts on the timing in of the annual meeting. The purpose of the survey is to gauge your interest in moving the dates of the conference away from our “traditional” early August time slot.

We did receive a good number of responses to the survey, but we need more.

So, please, please, please (I hate to beg), go to this website – https://forms.gle/uxe8YWdJpxwU9iPf7 – and record your vote. During the business meeting in August, we will have a discussion of this topic.

By way of background, our bylaws rest the power to select the time and place of the annual meeting in the Executive Committee. That power is tempered by the operational guidelines for the site selection committee, which target the first week in August as our “normal” meeting time, but which also permit the polling of the membership (i.e. you!) for input to assist the Executive Committee in making its decision. Thus, the poll.

So, if you haven’t already done so, please record your vote!

But, back to me, we have finally started the bidding process for our new Supreme Court building. Here is a digital rendering of what it will look like. The new building may be finished before I retire …
