In addition to his role as a Clerk of Court, Marquez Gibson also does consulting work for a Tribe in Arizona. He has worked with Tribal Court systems for two years.

Marquez joined the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians Civil Trial Court and Court of Appeals in 2024. In addition to the Rincon Court system, he also helped create the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake Tribal Court, which includes a Trial Court, Court of Appeals, and a Peacemaking Court.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Government Communication and Bachelor of Science in Population Studies from Fairmont State University. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

The highlight so far in the NCACC for Marquez was attending the annual conference in Albuquerque and meeting fellow NCACC members as well as Chief Justice JoAnn Jayne of the Navajo Nation Supreme Court.

Marquez is proud of building the HPUL Tribal Court. He used a lot of community feedback through surveys, and a Community Law Day, to determine what the community wanted from their Court System to try and create a service-oriented Court.

You will be surprised to know that Marquez used to be a professional boxer. Marquez is inspired by the members of the platoon he served with in Iraq. They were all young guys and had a tremendous amount of responsibility thrust on them at a young age.   Thank you for your service, Marquez!
