Jennelle Jones has served as Chief Deputy Clerk of the Court for the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia for nearly two years. A lifelong West Virginian, Jennelle’s commitment to public service makes her perfectly suited in her role as Deputy Clerk. “I am a public servant at heart,” Jennelle says, “and can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Jennelle earned both her bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from West Virginia University. Let’s Go Mountaineers!!  She began her career practicing bankruptcy law in a small firm before embarking on a 20‑year career in state government spanning all three branches. Her experience includes roles as legislative committee counsel, staff attorney representing the tax department in bankruptcy court, general counsel for a cabinet with 15 sub‑agencies, and agency privacy officer. 

Jennelle is looking forward to connecting with peers from around the country who understand the unique challenges of being an appellate court clerk and value the professional growth that comes from the NCACC.

Proud Achievement

For the past three years, Jennelle has served on a U.S. legal team for Locked Shields, a real‑time mock cyber‑attack exercise sponsored by NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Center of Excellence. Two years ago, her team placed second in this prestigious international competition.
