Paul D. Caver, Jr., was appointed Clerk of the Sixth Court of Appeals of Texas one month ago (WOW, Let’s Go Newbie!), stepping into the role after more than a decade of service with the court. Originally from Texarkana, Arkansas, Paul has a wide range of legal experiences including private practice, in-house counsel work, and long-term appellate court service.

Paul earned his undergraduate degree from Centenary College of Louisiana and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He began his legal career practicing in Nashville, Tennessee, before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where he practiced law for 15 years. During that time, Paul worked at a large law firm and later served as in-house counsel for The Home Depot.  That must have been the dream job if you got discounts on home improvement supplies!!

After returning home to the Texas side of Texarkana, Paul joined the Sixth Court of Appeals of Texas, where he has worked for 14 years. He describes himself as a perpetual bachelor and proudly shares his home with Denver, a three-year-old Mini Sheepadoodle who keeps life entertaining.

Though new to NCACC, Paul has already been struck by how welcoming and supportive the organization’s leadership has been and is looking forward to attending the upcoming conference in Austin.
